Tertie is the son of Luxon, the son of Ambros (#6934776). His mother is Secunda, the daughter of Katyushka. He was the third egg of the first third-generation nest to hatch in the Solar Solar. Of his parents' other hatchlings, only one stayed for any length of time; Triti's egg was laid after Secunda and Luxon obtained scrolls to make their fur crystalline, however, so she doesn't resemble Tertie, except that both of them have eye spot wing patterns, like their father did before he purchased a butterfly scroll to change his wings. (Tertie much prefers himself with eye spot patterns and would not follow his father's example if paid.) Shortly after the glorious victory over Plague, however, Triti joined the Lightweaver's armies. (Tertie does not plan to follow her example either.)

As is true of his father's children, only two of Tertie's children have chosen to stay: Quarta, whose mother was also two generations removed from a first-generation dragon, and Coalgleam, whose nest was laid to celebrate the Light Flight's victory in a fierce dominance battle against the Nature clan. Coalgleam has had no children, and of Quarta's four children only one, Quinta, has decided to stay.

Shortly after Quinta brought forth a daughter to continue the ordinally-numbered descent from the Founders, Tertie purchased for himself a scroll to apply giraffe patterns across his torso and limbs.
