Every clan needs a leader, and Artemis might just be the worst. He doesn't really know how to fight, he's insanely loyal to Stormcatcher, and he doesn't know how to parent as well. The only two kids in his lair are Calamity and Perely. They're actually half-siblings, because Artemis snuck away to have an affair with Isaye. The rest of his children are exalted or hibernating in other clans. The reason why he is so loyal to Stormcatcher is unknown, but Surtur claims that his parents were lost in a tsunami and Stormcatcher himself found Artemis, and let him start a clan with Surtur.
history
He was first a problem when he had his first batch of kids, Calamity and Dapples. He didn't know how to parent them, so he mostly abandoned them to Surtur to focus on being loyal to the God of Lightning. Soon, Dapples was ejected out of the Clan and was exalted to the Icewarden. He went on to have more kids but really didn't care about them. Baladan even calls him the "Zeus" of the Clan; the leader, and the worst.
