Vermouth was a wild thing. She survived on her own. She always did.
When the archmage and his student passed through, she figured that they would make easy targets and a meager meal. She attacked quickly and ruthlessly. They couldn't have seen her coming.
Aldrich had her immobilized before she could touch them. They were the same as her. The student, Champagne especially. The archmage was not angry, strangely. Instead, he spoke of strange tales in strange lands. He offered to take her there with them and train her with Champagne. Vermouth found it difficult to believe his promises, but accepted his offer anyway. She figured that if anything it would be an excuse for free food.
As it turned out, Aldrich had not lied at all.
The grapes that grow on this creature's wings are addictive. Beware of any strange berries you find in the woods. You may find yourself at the end of her arrow.
