The Arch Druid - Mother of The Clan

Her head was pounding, she could hardly open her eyes and whenever she did she felt the entire world spinning around her. She wasn’t sure how much longer she was going to be able to keep herself alive. The only thing that was keeping her going was the sounds of crying as her younger sister sobbed against her chest, she knew that despite the amount of pain she was in she was going to have to focus, she needed to ensure Gourds safety.
“Gourd..” It hurt to even speak, the searing pain along the entire length of her back making thinking almost completely impossible. She couldn’t move her wings anymore, she wasn’t even sure if they were still attached to her body. “Hush...it’ll be okay.”
She knew how painful everything must be for the small Aberration, both of their families were gone now, she knew that. Her own mind was in so much turmoil but she couldn’t do anything about it, she couldn’t succumb to the sadness, yet her little sister didn’t say a single word to her as her sobs only seemed to get worse.
More terrifying yet was what seemed to be the sounds of someone walking closer to them, as hopeful as she was, she knew it couldn’t have been anyone she knew.
Cucurbita opened her eyes again as she heard the sounds get closer, seeing the silhouette of someone standing above them. She didn’t know who this stranger was but she desperately hoped that it would be help. “My..sister…” She couldn’t continue speaking. She was so dazed, ears ringing as she tried her hardest to not pass out that she couldn’t understand the conversation that was happening between her little sister and the other person. She felt Gourd leave her arms though, a smile tugging at her lips, she didn’t bother to try and hold on any longer, if Gourd was leaving willingly then it was likely for good reason. Her little sister was safe.
She closed her eyes after that, completely content with this being the end. She allowed herself to enjoy the deep, dark, dreamless sleep that came to her afterwards.
When Bita next awoke she was entirely confused, her body was extremely sore and yet it wasn’t nearly as bad as it had been previously, though she did let out quite the loud groan as she attempted to sit up. She didn’t know how in the world she was alive. A hand was quickly placed on her shoulder, holding her there, the voice of a man speaking up, “Hey now, you’re alright. I appreciate the enthusiasm but I’ve hardly healed you enough for all that.”
“..My sister-” She hardly got the chance to get out those couple words when he cut her off.
“Is currently resting, I’m taking the two of you back to my clan. I understand you have a lot of questions but there will be plenty of time for all of that later, for now you need to focus on getting better…you lost some limbs.” His voice was gentle and reassuring, she wasn’t going to fight him, she simply laid back down and focused on breathing in a way that wasn’t painful for her.
He continued speaking to her, “My name is Ender, I’m the leader of my clan, I was on a trip when I saw the two of you in that place..” He sighed, “I can’t do much but I can give you a place to stay, The Blue Tree is a home for all dragons who need somewhere to go. It’ll be a safe place for you and your sister.”
(Present Day)
Nothing had gone like how she expected it to go, nothing had prepared her for the pain that she would be feeling as she laid in bed with her fabric wings wrapped tightly around her body. She had been fighting with her husband again, all because she refused to attempt to birth a child for him, she couldn't handle the pain after she had lost so many..
She indulged herself in thinking about how different her life might've been if she had been with the man she truly cared for, if she had been able to make Ender look her way, but then she was flooded with guilt.
Twenty years she had spent waiting for him to come and tell her that all those nights spent speaking to each other had meant something to him, that he had noticed how she had been looking at him, yet it seemed as if she would spend the rest of her life like this. With Vineheart, who didn't seem to care for her unless she was pregnant with his child, something that she didn't think she would ever be able to do again, if she lost another she didn't think her heart would ever be repaired.
Bita held her necklace in her hand, fingers running along the surface of it, her tears slowing. This was the only little piece of Ender she had left, a gift he had given her when she had taken over protecting and establishing a second clan for him.
A knock at the door completely snapped her out of it, she quickly wiped the tears from her face and then sat up, fixing her hair to look a little more proper as she spoke up, "C-come in!" It couldn't be Vineheart, he said that he would be leaving on another trip before storming off.
The door opened, Gourd poking her head in and immediately frowning past her usual scowl, stepping in and closing the door behind her before she sat on the bed beside her sister, "Whats wrong?"
"Nothing, I'm just a bit tired hun, what did you need?"
"..Don't lie to me, its pointless."
Cucurbita sighed, taking her little sisters hands in her own, thumbs gently rubbing over her knuckles. "It's nothing, I promise, Vineheart and I were just…we're just going through a rough patch, we're both stressed."
"I don't like him."
"I know.." They both looked tired, this was the same conversation that they had every single time he did something like this, it seemed like this had been happening every week now. "I can't do anything…having him as my mate is the only thing thats keeping everyone happy with me being the leader of a clan."
"Bita..it's been twenty years now. Twenty years of you running this place all by yourself, we would stick by you. I don't care if Ender himself comes here and tries to take this place back, I would happily tell him to buzz off for you, you know that don't you?" She leaned forward, pulling her into her arms and sighing, "I'm mad at him as well, if anything you'd be doing me a favor letting me yell at him."
She wanted to cry some more but the idea of doing so around anyone but herself made her worried about if she would appear dependable or not, she didn't want to ruin her image as clan leader. Keeping their spirits high was too important, instead she laughed, pressing her head into Gourd's neck. "Thank you."
Bita pulled back, staring her seriously in the eyes, she wasn't going to depend on Vineheart this time, she was going to get this done herself. "Gourd, I have an assignment for you. I need you to go to The Blue Tree."
