Everyone dies eventually. Some earlier than others. It’s a universal experience, and those who live will always have to learn to let go.

Despite the companions who have died, though, Brontë has never quite managed to learn how to do that.

Oh, he’s tried. He’s tried far too many times. And each time, he always comes crawling back with something else, whether it be a potion to let him ‘see the ghosts of his loved ones’, or contacting someone to let him ‘speak’ to the dead, or something — anything — that would let him pretend everyone is still alive.

It’s unhealthy, but he’s desperate enough to continue.

Desperate, and cowardly.

(And one day, his desperation will be the thing that kills him.)
