Biography

Nomin-FR.png
Owner of The Collections | Doctor/Herbalist

-
named after and based on an OC
-

Growing up, Nomin had always found fascination in... dragons. Other, strange dragons. Weird, forbidden hybrids, and Shade scented. The fascination only grew as he matured.

After a terribly failed marriage negotiation for his son with a nearby clan, Nomin took his clan and relocated to the ice fields, where he had been hatched. Rumors spread regarding a collection of strange dragons he keep in the depths of the fort, but he and his dragons went on unbothered for the longest while.

He grew an attitude of contempt to the eleven deities, seeing how their battles are the sole reason dragons practice the tradition of fodders. What justifies dragons to be hatched, raised, and trained, only to be sent to the deities as soldiers for their foolish wars? What justifies living, breathing dragons to be bought and sold at the marketplace like possessions?

Slowly, that attitude of contempt spread to other dragons -- as fodder owners and bystanders, they are so incapable of empathy, that they do not deserve any.

He plans his attacks and raids other clans that condone the practice of dragon fodders, while continuing searching for strange dragons for his fascination. Over the spam of years, he lost his ability to emphasize and realize that other dragons are dragons at all in his work. He froze thieves and robbers in ice, putting them in the walls and using them as a part of his fortress decorations.

While raiding one clan located in the Shadow territories (that was very unprepared for an attack), Nomin gained possession of an Ice egg sheltering an incredibly strong hatchling. After sending assassins to kill the fleeing leaders of the clan, Nomin retreated to his fort with that egg.

It is a curious thing, because Nomin is confidently sure that the egg is related to him. He tells himself otherwise -- this is just a random egg you picked up from another clan, and there is no way, but his mind has other thoughts, and eventually, the only reasonable thing to do seems to be killing the egg for good. Meanwhile, he has also been trying to get his hands on one former leader of that attacked clan -- Blake. Blake suffers from a strange disease, which Nomin finds very interesting.

He did not get his claws on Blake in the end, of course, at the cost of freezing Blake's father, Amaury, who betrayed him. Nomin made a magical clone of that dragon, because he missed Amaury's company.

Then, some dragon from that attacked clan actually came in peace to his home, searching for a few Shade - aligned dragons. Nomin lied to them that he did not have any with him, and to explain why he attacked the clan, he blamed the strong Ice egg, which he has placed in chains and layers of thick ice, and has been planning to launch it into the Sea of A Thousand Currents as a bomb.

His fatal mistake was letting his son, Lycan, cage and torture a mage, Avoltloss, who had came along with the group. The group discovered that, along with his precious collection of his strange dragons.

A fight broke out, and he was killed with Lycan.

-

Months later, he was revived by Athena, an estranged daughter of his. Athena has wrecked the very same clan whose members were responsible for killing him and raised her father to life with necromancy. She offered Nomin to stay and help her run her newfound kingdom, which Nomin refused.

Athena then attempted to imprison him until he changes his mind, but the large imperial escapes. Nomin set course for the ice fields, back to his fort.

On his way, he met Moon, a Shade - aligned dragon. After freezing Moon's very visibly abusive husband, Aquati, in ice, Nomin takes Moon and his Shade scented child, Shreds, with him, on the way back to his ice fortress. On the way, he gathered several fodder dragons that are interesting to him, or are suffering too much.

Upon returning home, he wasn't surprised that his past clan members have all moved away, finding new homes in other places. What he is surprised about is that several of the dragons from his collection stayed, apparently waiting for him to come back. Along those are Tink, a mute pearlcatcher who has four eyes, like a mirror, and Eteki, a young fae with three wings.

With the suggest from Moon, Nomin sawed out the dragons he's previously frozen and revives them, allowing them to return home or stay.

Nomin continued searching for strange dragons that no one wanted in their clans and fodders in bad conditions, until one day, he had a full house again. That night, he sat down on the rooftop and thought what to do. Until a plan came in mind.

This is a new beginning. He could help those strange dragons and former fodders find a clan that are willing to take them in as a family member. It was a thought he never had before -- helping other dragons in need. It sounded like a good idea, a good passion project to take his mind off the breakup with Moon.

He didn't forget the gleam in their eyes when he told his collection about his thought. This has to be a right direction in life. A new direction, for a cursed immortal mantarune halfling like him.
