Self-propelled airships are few and far between in Sornieth, and those with the skills to pilot them are just as elusive. So, as a helicopter pilot, Dave's quite the rare find! And, uh, that means he's definitely worth keeping around even considering the trouble he keeps finding himself in. Wait– no, there's no trouble! Why would you even consider that? No trouble with him, not at all. Oh, fine, he might annoy the VendeVice a fair bit too much, and he might always find himself in situations that Bossman ends up having to bail him out from– but he bails everyone else out in turn. And look, he's not 'breaking traffic laws' and 'pushing his helicopter past what it's designed for', he's rushing because the Agency or the Nexus Core is on his tail! And it's not like he's crashed yet. So it's fine. Okay, he crashed once. Early on. A long time ago. And he never crashed again, so it doesn't count! |

It's a day in Sornieth as a whole, but you are in Nevada. You are in Moonlight Central, to be precise. You are a citizen of Moonlight Central. You're out- maybe you're getting groceries (whether from a store or from hunting). Maybe you're heading to work. Maybe you're heading to that nice restaurant you saw downtown. You see an obelisk dash past with a nocturne and a tundra both slung on his back and a whole pack of Nexus personnel hot on his heels. You hear the hum of magic from overhead- and you see, you are a citizen of Moonlight Central, so your first thought is damn, is there another monster on the loose?- and you turn tail and prepare to run. Let the obelisk deal with whatever creature it might be. Let the Nexus Core fight a battle they might not win. Out of the corner of your eye, though, you see the source of the magical hum, and it is not a monster. It is an entire flying machine. Not a car or a truck, for those are glorified carts at best, but an actual steel-and-glass vehicle that flies under naught but the power of the arcane crystals dotting its sides. You turn back, awestruck, as a little orange spiral pokes his head out of his flying machine. He kicks the door open and shouts over the magical din. "Oi, guv', get in!" "Don't need to tell me twice!" The obelisk gladly obliges, launching himself through the air and directly into the flying machine. The nocturne on his back whoops; the tundra clings on as hard as they can. He hasn't even pulled the door closed before the vehicle zooms off at breakneck pace. The Nexus dragons scramble into the air, giving chase, but their efforts are futile. The flying machine has vanished into the maze of the city before they even manage to clear the block. ...You blink. Around you, the rest of the pedestrians are shaking themselves out of their shock and returning to whatever they were doing before. You do too. Well, at least it wasn't another rampaging beast. |
