Who-I-Was was once an esteemed adventurer, known Shard-wide for its unending bravery and ability to seemingly win any fight it put its mind to with no fear of death. At least… outwardly, that was how things appeared. Who-I-Was was terrified of death, spending every day fearing the moment of its demise. The fear haunted it, plagued it, consumed its every waking moment… until, one day, when it met a strange masked magician. The magician promised Who-I-Was eternal life, at a price. An eternal debt, only repaid upon the death of the magician. It foolishly, eagerly agreed to the deal, thinking only of its own gain, and how easily it could kill the magician, take the dragon’s place, and never fear death again.

The Shard is an age old tundra filled with ice and stone, the only life dotting the landscape being small shrubbery or ancient abandoned Gaoler cities, now filled with dragons in search for old hoarded treasures, or the Abandoned, a clan-less caste of dragons whose ranks and members are ever changing. The tundra is unforgiving, but deep in the glaciers adventurers explore, carving out deep ice homes for future generations to inhabit.
