Dan is based on DanTDM, specifically from the time when his chanel was exclusively Minecraft content. I adored, and still do adore, his old Minecraft stuff especially mod reviews. They just bring me so much nostalgia from my childhood. His new stuff's good too, of course, but it doesn't have that same sentimentality.

The recurring characters on his channel are Dr. Trayaurus, a Minecraft villager, and Grim, a skeleton dog. Probably the most notable part of his old videos is the old lab. It was a simple iron structure where his videos took place.
