Having just enjoyed an interesting, yet satisfying meal at the local soup restaurant, you wander towards the door after paying for your meal. It's just as you go to push the exit door open that you notice a brightly lit table in the corner. On top of it sits a bowl of complimentary mints and a small leatherbound notebook. Originally intending on grabbing a mint to enjoy on the walk home, instead you find the worn cover intriguing, your interest heightened by the small pencil haphazardly left on the table. You pick up the book.

  Date: 6/08/2013 Today's eccentricities started during the dinner rush, as most do. We were understaffed and struggling to keep up with the flow of customers, when a table was delivered food before the waitress had even passed their orders along to the kitchen. The guests seemed to enjoy the soup, though they did mention that it wasn't what they'd expected. That's because it wasn't what they ordered. In fact, it wasn't even on the menu. That wasn't all, though. Throughout the entire day I'd been seeing flashes of black in my peripheral vision. I'd thought that maybe I was simply getting a bit dehydrated, or that a stray cat had wandered into the store, but when I talked to the rest of the staff, there wasn't a single one of them that hadn't also had those flashes. From this, I conclude: Someone else was in the restaurant today. That someone does not want the staff aware of their presence. That someone, for unknown motives, is making customers soup. We cannot yet know whether that someone is an enemy or an ally, but until we do, we shall only communicate sightings of this... cryptid creature through writing in this journal and keep it in a well lit area with no shadows for the creature to obscure itself within.
