Cursed Armor

"Mistakes are only human, aren't they?"

Personality
  • Having been brought to life, Soleis is extremely curious of everything. Often underestimates its own strength, especially when it comes to fleshy creatures. Originally created to be a protector, its curiosity got the better of it, and that unchecked strength led to unfixable mistakes.
  • Still instilled with its guardian goal, it often gets involved in defending Pit members who have bit off more than they can chew. It naturally tries to defend the weak. While this has helped prevent several unneeded deaths, it can't be everywhere at once.
  • When alone, it seems tired. Remorseful almost, though if it was asked why, it would be unable to make the connection between its feelings and the past very well. It also can't speak, so that wouldn't exactly help.

History
It stood there silently, nothing but the faint creak of metal to give away its presence. In its iron grip, still warm, but unmoving was a young creature belonging to its creators. It hadn't meant to grip so hard, it had just wanted to touch. To inspect the red stained fabric. It had rarely seen blood before now, and as a guardian, it had only wanted to help. When the creature struggled, it only tried to get it to stop. It couldn't help it when it kept thrashing like that.

Now it wasn't fighting anymore. It never would again.

The realization set in, and it set the unmoving thing on the ground carefully, afraid to further damage what was already irreplaceably broken.

-

The fire came. Torches and magic, burning it relentlessly. It couldn't feel any of it, but the violence and anger it sensed easily. As skewed as its morals were, it knew why they raged, but how unfair it was. It was a mistake. The fleshy ones made mistakes all the time, and it had never held it against them.

'To make mistakes is natural.' Its creator had said. Was that a lie?

Soleis felt the stones and blades striking, ringing through its armor. It lashed out in fear, in defense- a guardian defends against those that would do harm, after all.

Another unmoving form, hitting the ground with a hollow thud. Hatred fueled the mob, and Soleis trudged away, scrapes and dents covering its armor as the crowd pursued it relentlessly. It could not fly, could not run. Was this punishment?

-

A week passed before the mob thinned, exhausted. Soleis creaked like an old house, magical burns and dents marring it. It shuffled down into the earth, hoping to hide. Instead, the Pit welcomed it with more violence. In retaliation, it struck down its opponent, an immovable wall. It could only imagine, as the crowd cheered for further violence, that this must be what exhaustion felt like.

It looked down at its defeated opponent, barely breathing, barely alive. Its armored hands reached down, grasping, and this time its callous hold killed with purpose.

As the roars of joy filled its hollow form, it decided that this would be its new purpose. This, at least, it could succeed at.

“Shoes of linen
Bare-foot sprinting
Through the hill in the far-out distance
Yeah, I marched
I got it, I listened
I listened to your words when you told me to
March
Pick it all up
To pick up my stride
Rapa pam pam para pa pam
Pick it on up
With a little more pride
Rapa pam pam”

March - Jesse Abbey
About
Enchanted set of armor brought to life to defend a clan. Its body was constructed as a war machine, but was abandoned before it could be put to use. In a way, it was inevitable that death would come of it, intentional or not.

Its body is made of darksteel plating, with a molten orange magical glow when it catches the light. Glowing runes and elaborate filigree cover it from head to toe. It is bipedal, and though modeled after dragons, cannot fly. It is far too heavy. Instead, blades unfold from behind it in lieu of wings.

Trivia
  • While technically classified as cursed armor, Soleis is very mechanical in nature. Many parts work in tandem, allowing it to move and unfold weapons of all sorts that would initially be hidden. It is an efficient killer, and is only just starting to experiment with this realization.
  • Its armor is beautifully crafted, sleek like freshly hardened obsidian. It is woven with intricate filigrees of amber and citrine that seem to glow with a fiery enchantment. It is jointed and ridged, carved to be both organically jagged and impeccably complex. It will spend hours sometimes cleaning itself, making sure every moving part is in working order.
