Biography
Sybill was hatched to high nobles of the court. They were high-ranking military noblemen yet they ensured that she had a luxurious splendid life. She grew up amongst the beautiful, lavish parties with all the food, fashion, and jewels she could ask for. However, the majority of her family was military. Her siblings all traveled away or, like her parents, chose to fight in the kingdom’s army. While she admires their devotion and their passion, she was left in the shadow of their exaltation. Sybill knew that she would never be a fighter. She was born with poor coordination and as such, has difficulty flying for long distances, much less combat in the air. Sybill wished, begged, and even lied to try and be in the army like her parents. Because she couldn’t, she has very high expectations for herself in court. She was left alone for most of her life, and as such walled everyone else off. Many others see her as pretentious, yet there is so much buzzing around in her mind that she sometimes simply forgets that other dragons cannot hear what is happening up there, and doesn’t talk much.
One of her favorite hobbies is to cloak herself and escape the palace grounds to walk among the common dragons. She will frequently walk through the market streets, tasting many of the local foods and buying souvenirs for herself and her handmaidens. However, as the treasure her family had set aside for such frivolous endeavors began to dwindle, Sybill realized that she would have to find a way to sustain her hobbies. Her only specialty, to her, was lying and concealing. And so her profession started.
It started on a small plank of wood. Three small wooden bowls and two pebbles. It was a classic maneuver, something she saw all around her in the markets- another pebble in her sleeve thrown under one of the empty bowls, to lure the victim into a sense of false confidence. For the second round, just one, and for the final round, the pebble would disappear under her sleeve, only to be thrown under another bowl. It was her bread and butter.
In the streets, she also sees many of the impoverished families of dragons and made a promise to herself- once she became a louder voice, a stronger power in court, she would change that. Someday.
One night she was in her room, reading a book, when he came crashing through her room. She startled, and immediately rose and backed up into the corner of her room. He was smaller than her, but his eyes shone with mirth and he had a grin the size of his wingspan.
“Heya.” He said, saluting her. “The name’s Treasure. You seem like a pretty cool chick, how’s about coming on a flight with me?”
Half of Sybill’s mind was sounding alarm bells, telling her to scream for a handmaiden. But she was so, so curious. And timid. Very, very timid.
“I can’t really fly.” She mumbled.
“Nonsense. Anyone can fly!” Treasure joked, laughing merrily. “Tell your name Miss, and let’s go!”
“Sybill.” She whispered.
“Say again?”
“Sybill.”
“I can’t hear you!” Treasure said, his ear turned towards her.
“Sybill!” She cried.
Again, he laughed, filling up the room. “Now, that’s a name!” He crowed, leaping across the room to grab her claw. “Now come on. We’ll go slow.” And as he turned to leave, she found herself following.
