Luggage:
Currently, nothing.
Uh-oh, looks like this lazy boy on the run from responsibility travelled a little too far from his home lair, (Volrin, #261879) and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to his home lair, to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here, or to the hub if you don't want another dragon in return. This is not necessary, but he would be very grateful!

Look at Basalt's battle stones! At the request of his father, Basalt is trying to improve his combat skills by following the teachings of the Sedona Build, but he could use some help achieving his full potential. It certainly isn't a requirement, but if you're feeling generous, he would love it if you could throw a new battle stone his way! Basalt would begrudgingly pull his weight in the Coliseum to gain some levels as well, if you gave him the opportunity.

Biography:
Starting at a young age, Basalt's father, Rosh, began training him in the ways of his lineage: the Royal Knights. Rosh told his Spiral son all about their great bloodline, and how the formidable matriarch of this lineage, Agion, committed herself and her hatchlings after her to expanding their family tree all across Sornieth! All of her hard work was in the name of bolstering dragon numbers against the growing Beastclan menace.

Rosh always held great pride in being a descendant of such a prestigious warrior, but Basalt, well... he's never really cared much about it. He's a big fan of life's simpler pleasures, like tasty food and a cozy nap on a cold day. Admittedly, the Spiral is a little lazy, but is that really such a crime? Most dragons could get away with being a little sedentary, but because Basalt was being held up to the great expectations of his father -- and of his "royal blood" or whatever -- he was constantly under pressure to train hard and better himself.

Basalt was getting a little sick of it, honestly. And with the amount of time he had spent disinterested in training with his dad, committing himself half-heartedly at best, father and son alike were both starting to grate on the other's nerves. When Basalt expressed to his father his wishes to leave his home clan one day, and go somewhere else for a change of pace, Rosh surprisingly encouraged it wholeheartedly!

"I think travelling is a wonderful idea, my boy!" The older Spiral cooed excitedly, "I think it would be a great opportunity for you to take some initiative! You can take your training to the road, and learn a little more about good hard work while you're out there!"

Ah. There it was. Basalt knew that his father agreeing with him for once was too good to be true. Of course he had to slip the royal training in there somehow...

Basalt's travels have begun now, and his first step is to get as far away from the Sunbeam Ruins -- and his father's relentless monitoring -- as possible. Maybe he actually will learn a bit more about hard work on his travels, but the Spiral would much rather use this as an opportunity to find a new home clan that won't make him work quite so much! Lightweaver knows he won't be writing home much, that's for sure.

Travel Log:

User: Hyzenthlaay Didn't dragons run away to the circus to, y'know, avoid working? Basalt knew that he had made an error in judgement from the moment he accepted the ringmaster's offer and was immediately tossed a janitor's uniform three sizes too big. Evidentially, the "Spirited Lady" was Sornieth's largest circus both literally and figuratively. The grounds were almost entirely dominated by hulking tundras, and Basalt often found the trail of fur that they left behind long before finding the dragon themself. The thick, coarse wool haunted him, sticking to his skin and sleeping quarters with no hope of removal. Even the communal showers were coated with the stuff.

Sure, Dragonhome was on the other side of the planet, but at what cost? He spent his last days of employment miserably mapping out his next steps.

ashenfinch: Basalt made his way as far away from the very hairy situation he had been in as possible. In his journey, he overheard other Travelers speaking of a place of rest and relaxation, and he followed the trail of rumors to the home of the Companions. These two Guardians welcomed him into their lodge for dragons, and allowed him hours of attention, massages, and home-cooked meals. Basalt felt incredibly at peace, with no expectations hanging over him.

Yet a stormcloud hung over his mind as a storm hit the area, keeping him from his daily sunbathing and instead forcing self-reflection. And the pressures of his lineage seemed so strong, yet so far from being fulfilled, that he chose to pass such responsibilities on to the next generation, and asked Pacifica to have a nest together. However, he did not stick around to raise the hatchlings, too afraid that he would fail, or end up like his father. He wanted them to choose their own paths, and perhaps take some of the attention off of what he perceived as his own failures.

Knowing that the eggs were in good hands with the Companions, the adventurer departed, lamenting the loss of a place that had finally felt relaxing...
