You've been wandering this green hellscape for what feels like days on end now; everything blends together in shades of brown and green, the trees are indistinguishable from one another, the insects won't leave you alone, and the stagnant water beneath your feet has only been getting deeper, and deeper- what once we're puddles are now small rivers, and even those soon give way to entire stretches of marshland. Every step becomes laborious, claws sinking into the mud with a squelch that you'll never get used to.

In the distance, a moving shape... But- no, it's just your imagination. Logs don't swim on their own, right? Surely not. You trudge on, the water reaching up to your knees now. The "log" you've sen now resembles something more of a... Long bush? Spines protrude from every visible surface, weeds like hair flow behind it in the water... You begin to get drowsy, as the smell of herbs fills your lungs. Herbs? Well, it certainly is a welcome surprise- you've grown sick and tired of smelling rotting water for days...

You awake, uncertain of where you are. You're... Dry. And warm. There's a blanket over your body, and you smell this herbs again. " Ah, you're awake", a soft voice speaks up from somewhere behind you. " I was beginning to worry... You've been asleep for a two days, dear. I'm so glad i found you when I did..."

The voice was... Motherly. Soft, and with a slight accent you couldn't quite place your finger on. Southern, maybe? Uncertain, you sit up in bed, and your eyes land upon an elegant green veilspun. She smiles at you, and you realize that she was the "log" you saw; spines and all. She's around the size of an alligator, which is abnormally large for a Veilspun, you think- but had she been the size of a thimble, you doubt she would've been able to save you in the swamp you had been lost in. She's holding a little bowl of steaming liquid and tells you to drink; it tastes bitter, but the herbal aftertaste is sweet. You feel better already.

The veilspun tells you her name is Herbal, but you may call her Herb. You're not the only one she's saved over the years- many a traveller get lost in these forests, and the marshes and swamps are deadly to those who don't know the territory. Her motherly nature is soothing, and Herbal tells you to stay in her home until you feel good enough to leave again. Her warm smiles and delicious food have you up and running at full health in no time at all.

Maybe getting lost wasn't so bad after all.

The clan's hatchlings tend to find themselves drawn to Herbal, and she is more than happy to treat them with the love they deserve. She has yet to notice their grimaces at her bitter herbal tea though, and most are too polite to tell her they don't like it. Luckily her tea always comes with a tray of sweets, so most will snack happily between sips, though the brave ones try to discard it in nearby pot-plants.

As a result, most of the plants in her sitting room are blooming exceptionally beautifully, though she is at a loss as to why.
