Look, Alai never wanted to be a necromancer in the first place.

In hindsight, maybe he should’ve given more thought to the weird instructions of the ‘alchemy’ book. But in his honest defense, he thought the whole bones and chanting and black smoke part were just part of the branch he’d chosen. How was he, as a clueless and naive Skydancer, supposed to have known that alchemy didn’t use chanting in the first place?

But nobody could change the past, and so Alai found himself working as the owner of a haunted neighbourhood, luring unsuspecting dragons and creatures to pay him money to get scared by him, because there weren’t really many good job offers for necromancer that didn’t include throwing away half of his morals or becoming a stereotype.

At least he was good at his job.
