Biography

While named for the chilly briar-filled forests where he hatched, Bramblefrost is anything but cold to his clanmates. He's one of the oldest dragons in the bee-glen, and is sort like the resident grandpa. Or great-grandpa. Maybe great-great-grandpa, dragon generations are a confusing affair. Whatever he's called, he has a warm and welcoming manner he shares with everyone. Anyone who stops by his den can expect a cheerful hello and an invitation to sit a while and enjoy some food and drink, and swap a story or two. Bramblefrost is always an eager listener, treating everyone in the clan like extended younger family, and he's always first in line to catch up with anyone returning from a journey.

For his part, he has a long lifetime's worth of stories to share, like any proper grandpa. How he met his dear Plumdark, what he did and saw on his journey around Sornieth before he settled in the Viridian Labyrinth, the time he had a long conversation with a Longneck or that incident with the coral carpenters… He gets the details mixed up or loses his place occasionally, but most apiary dragons have heard him excitedly tell them about what he did way back when in his youth enough times to know what he means. Bramblefrost tends to ramble a bit, but no one would ever have the heart to rush him.

He's a little hesitant to talk about his progeny though, for some reason. Bramblefrost rarely speaks of his son Meraz, who moved to the Tangled Woods to see more of his paternal homeland, and gives few details of Meraz's life past his childhood when he does mention him. Some suspect a falling out. He speaks of his grandchildren even less, to the point that most dragons don't even know if he has any actual grandkids. A slow, melancholy headshake and mumblings about Meraz and foolish children making bad choices was all Loosewire got when she asked him. That, and maybe a name; she couldn't quite tell what he said, but maybe Basalt, or Jahn?
