Biography
Whoosh.
Swoosh.
Something swooped through the air again and again, diving anywhere but in front of the moon. One bird gone from its nest. One dragon egg knocked out of the nest.
Golden watched this all, sighing. He adjusted his grip on his spear, shifting in his spot. His armor clanked softly as he adjusted his tail.
Turning his head, he saw the beautiful, warm glow of the lanterns in the town. It'd come a long way from the depictions of its early days he had seen, from a bunch of snow huts and badly constructed lean-tos to a beautiful village of chattering dragons, well-lit streets, and well-constructed houses.
Looking back to the icy land in front of him, it was dark, as expected. The nests were on one side, with the few guardians tiredly walking through the rows and picking up the fallen egg.
Golden looked to see the swooping creature again. He figured it was some sort of escaped familiar or harpy, playing tricks on them or stealing what it liked.
Sure enough, it swooped down just then, straight towards the streetlamp next to him. Its outstretched claws, seemingly connected to its wings and tail, went to try and grab it. "HEY!" Golden shouted, standing and raising his spear. The creature made a shrieking hiss, seeing that it had been spotted, and beat its wings swiftly. Golden quickly pulled out his mini-lantern, breathing a quick flame into it and raising it.
A black Nocturne hissed, turning from the light and glaring at him. Golden's eyes widened in shock.
The Nocturne growled and writhed around in the air, beating its wings in an odd way. He could tell it seemed panicked.
"Wait!" Golden said, sitting back and lowering his lantern. "I'm not going to hurt you." He put his spear in front of his feet on the ground.
The Nocturne's wingstrokes calmed, and it looked down at him, growling. He put the lantern next to him, raising his talons. "You mind telling my why you're here in our Clan?"
The Nocturne sighed, suddenly seeming a lot more resigned and less animalistic. It landed, eyes darting around quickly. "...Hi. Nowhere else to go, I guess..."
Golden nodded, taking a bit of food from the pouch by his side and eating it. "Cool, cool. Well, mind going over there and visiting Mistbreeze? She'll know what to do with you. I'm just the guard, ha."
The Nocturne looked confused. "...what?"
Golden pointed to a house slightly raised off the ground. "Over there, the house with the stairs. The dragon who lives there is really nice and can help ya."
The Nocturne looked towards the house and back at the strange dragon. "...Sure." she said hesitantly. The dragon nodded, satisfied, and turned back to the dark icy land in front of him. She gave him a odd look as she walked away, still confused.
The village was beautiful- warm light from gently flickering lanterns, a few dragons happily chatting, and the noise of happy, sometimes shouting dragons from some sort of gathering.
Suddenly, the Nocturne felt lonely, but somehow in a good way. She felt warm and happy listening to the chattering dragons and surrounded by the lantern-light, knowing she could go and talk to them if she wanted. She smiled, probably for the first time in... how long? Oh stars, she couldn't remember.
She walked towards the house the guard had pointed her towards, snapping partially out of her thoughts, and stepped on the porch. It creaked gently, and she knocked on the door.
"Oh? Come in, sweetie." a welcoming voice said from inside...
