When the tiny spores hit her group collecting samples, she felt it as a radio switching on, an invisible wave catching, being understood, translated, in her head.

A C C E P T A N C E. In pieces, it's easier. One part can always be searching, tuning, for the answers, even while the rest of her panics, runs, wanders, forgets. Now each of her cells is a beacon, transmitting the sermon that others can't hear until they are attuned. It only takes one little spore, to start the change. The conversion. S E G M E N T A T I O N. The physical transformation happened slowly, gradually, like boiling a frog. Perhaps more was going on inside her, that she couldn't see, though she could feel it. New growth. Fringe germination, rhyzomic roots, a subtle budding.

It didn't meld with her, or kill her. It made its own niches. A separation of old and new, on the minutest scale. Her new self sought, like an ant infested with fungus, the higher ground. The clear sky, with which to send and receive this glorious message. The old cells feared, and cried out, and fought. Phecca felt the compartments form, different desires existing, simultaneously, apart.
