Starfall Amalgamate History and Public Records
"A library is the world. It’s the universe. It’s every ounce of knowledge and wisdom that has been or ever will be."
The Library
Though not much records remain of the time before the library's founding, information about the previous tenants of the grounds the Library now calls its own are kept safe and locked away. Physical remains are more apparent; there are still well-kept paths and hallways of a castle long gone if you traverse the library's aisles too long without keeping check of where you're going. An overgrown, but still well-cared for, courtyard lies in the library's center, local and exotic flora alike kept by the self-appointed gardeners that live within the large starwillow tree at the courtyard's center. The library grounds end when the forest of Starwood Strand spread thin then cease to grow at the near reach of the magical barrier that borders the library. Throughout the day footsteps of roaming creatures can be heard and, if you were to travel at night, the sight of something larger than the natural predators of these woods can be found running alongside them.
The library itself stands within a large clearing in Starwood Strand, though the building itself is hard to come across. An unnatural magical barrier protects this building and it's inhabitants from both sight and harm from outsiders. Still, one only needs a resident's invitation or to answer the Library's call to gain easy access to the building. The library itself hosts a large variety of books and scrolls, both old a new. Percival may be the only one to boast the knowledge of the entirety of this layout as well as all of its secrets, but even he lacks the full understanding that Coeus is burdened with.
A peculiarity that remains within these borders is that time ceases its toll on those within. Whether residents or visitors, all are freed from the effects of time while within the magic barriers that house Starfall Amalgamate. In an effort to keep visitors from staying inside unaware, enchanted timepieces are given to them before they cross the barrier. The pieces chiming at every hour to warn the visitors of the passing time.
Kept out of sight of those not granted approval to live within the library's walls are a maze of long hallways filled with doors of varying shapes, sizes, and colors. Each door can only be opened by the owner of the room it belongs to or one that the room's owner trusts completely. A low melodic hum runs through the air as soft vibrations can be felt once one has stepped into the firestarter-lit walkways. While it is known by the few inhabitants that the walls remain in constant movement, there are still times when a resident will be Lost to the Library. Once a resident is Lost, their door, and all that it holds within, disappears along with them. On moonless nights, it is said that soft, tempting singing rings through all the way to the entrance of the castle from somewhere far deeper than any resident or visitor has traversed.
"The truth will be revealed post mortem auctoris."
