Rapture
— Born of the Earth —

Rapture had not always lived in La Dame Blanche Manor, and that had been more than fine with her. She had carved out a careful niche for herself in a clan that dwelt in the heart of the Thorndark Altar, more than free to connect herself to rituals and proclaim that she herself was one of the most important parts of the ritual. Rapture was not born out of an egg like those she claimed as her kin, she was made of pure shadow. Not the shadows that the Great Mother of Darkness ruled over, but shadow that had been dragged out from under her benevolent grasp and raised into the third dimension by gnarled Shade hands.

Rapture had been made to sow confusion and derision towards the Shadowbinder, and in her original clan she had done a good job of it. She had just about whipped them all up into a frenzy, into a desire to find out why exactly none of their rites and rituals were catching the attention of their Mother Goddess, when everything fell apart. So perfect had her ruse been going, so thoroughly under her spell had the entire clan been, that she had forgotten that dragons love to chat. Dragons loved to gossip and trade information between clans, and it was only right that all of her power disappeared because of that. Her clan found out about the faulty rituals, about the deception, about the lies, and Rapture was driven out.

Of course, that meant that Rapture needed to find a new clan to latch onto and parasitically feed from. There was no lack of clans that were susceptible to manipulation, especially with the recent disappearance of the Tidelord. People wanted answers, people needed to know what to do, that there was kindness out in the universe that would answer them. Now, of course Rapture wasn't that kindness nor was she the force that would bring them into prosperity and oracular knowledge. She was a simple shade beast that had gained just a bit more intelligence, probably stolen away from an unfortunate shade-taken dragon that had previously fallen. It was just a matter of time before she stumbled onto a large manor home, something that fit her just fine. There was a certain part of her that was drawn to luxury. Though she certainly didn't expect there to be competition in the Manor, especially not to the point of everything from everyone being fruitless.
