They were born into a failing city. Well, that's not entirely true. But it's not like they remember what the city was like before. They hatched a scant few years before Nexus was taken down. All their memories of the city have been of everything falling apart and anarchy beginning to reign. Of Shade-beasts and artificial abominations rampaging through the streets as citizens averted their eyes and clung desperately onto the opulence of the past. Crackpot saw the truth. Crackpot reached out to Sabori, told them (with a lot more cackling and a lot less formality)- the city should've fallen with Nexus. The dragons should've returned to the wasteland. Leave the city to the zeds; let the Shade consume the heretics that remain. Leave the city to the monsters, as it should have been all those years ago. Sabori, too, saw the truth, and thus took on the duty of prophet. |
