Biography
Melancia - The Pale Melon…
She wandered through the trees of the forest, her blue eyes looking around, trying to stave away her sorrow. She looked back in the direction of the lair, fighting the tears that threatened to leak out of her eyes.
She could never become a melon.
Her father was a son of the precursor pair - Waretelomn and Sandia. He was as much a melon as a dragon could hope. He had the potential to bring a whole new generation of melons into the world.
Alas, that her father was also color-blind. He usually was able to hide this fact due to all the dragons he knew being the same blend of green and red, but it had led to the fateful pairing that led to her birth … and the pale coloring that haunted her.
She sighed, her breath plumbing visibly in the air in front of her. She had hoped that there might be some way she could change the colors of her scales, to allow her to become a melon but … no, there was no such thing. There was no reality where she would ever become a melon.
She lifted her head and gave a soft keen of loss. It was all she wanted, ever since she was a hatchling. Her grandfather had been very supportive, and her father had pointed out that there were plenty of options open for her … roads she could travel but … but …
A harrowing shriek made her flinch downward, staring up at the sky in fear. Far above, circling overhead were creatures of Beastclan - four of them. The harpies screeched down at her and dove at her, their talons extended.
Melancia turned to flee, desperate to escape into the foliage. It wasn’t until she was almost to the bushes that she realized her horrid pale coloring made it impossible for her to blend into the leaves. They would see her no matter where she went.
And before she could think further, they descended upon her in a flood of feathers and talons, raking at her as they shrieked their hunger. She huddled down and folded in her wings, shivering in dread, praying that they would leave, that someone would help.
