gluttonous | punished | corrupted
Stardew is an odd dragon that is only known to the common dragon in stories told through small towns and clans across Sornieth. It is said that the wildclaw used to be a gluttonous ruler who was obsessed with food and power, often stealing food from his subjects and the mortals below, and demanding unnecessary sacrifices for his own gain. To secure himself as the one to take the throne, he would bully and abuse his older brother, Cuttle, through spells, nightmares, and fights in order to make him seem weak and inferior in comparison to the wildclaw. This had a lasting effect on the fae, as he has ended up being driven by his own brother to the point of insanity.

Although Stardew's actions had led him to become a ruler that was feared and considered to be unstoppable, these actions would ultimately be his downfall. He had angered two young hatchlings who suffered at his hand and pursued revenge, tactfully using the rulers' powers against him, they dethroned and banished the king to the mortal realm below. As punishment for his misdeeds, he is now forced to carry an endless supply of water on his back, symbolizing the weight of the burdens he put on dragonkind. The bits of black energy that follow him display his status as a fallen god, in stark contrast to the golden radiance one would expect from a revered ruler. Now, he forever flies around Sornieth sprinkling the water from his back down to the flora below. Stardew is said to be responsible for the morning dew that appears on flourishing plants and crops, helping bring back the food to the dragons he once stole from. Elder dragons pass this story of an unfortunate event to younger generations in an attempt to teach them about the consequences of greed, however, the origin of this story and its legitimacy remains a mystery to most. |
