    Irel was nothing more then a soft-scaled hatching when he was 'borrowed' from his clan residence among the rocks of the Shattered Plain, whisked off to a land of bitter cold and harsh storms. Initially the young dragon was fearful and anxious of his new caretakers, but over the years he came to grow familiar with his new family and accepted them as his clan.

    Not many in the clan would deem him to be particularly useful, scoffing at his exuberance and penchant for fooling around or shirking his tasks; always favoring clambering about the stones and jagged ice to laboring beneath the earth. Irel never really showed interest with ultimate goals, but a mouthful of sea-life, a pretty pebble, or a fine set of wings always got him up in the morning.

    With the other Ridgebacks in the clan being considerably more astute to their occupations, Irel was left to his own devices, and more often then not found himself in quite the predicament, at the very least a scuffle. No dragon would bat an eye if he wandered off and left his niche undisturbed, usually assuming him to be fooling around in the expanse or flirting with a fanciful dragon from outside the realm.
