Bodhi remembers the moment she realised Astaroth was not the god she thought. She remembers the moment she realised her mistakes too late, the moment she was wrapped in chains and cast off like some common prisoner.
“You dare to oppose your god?”
She remembers Astaroth looking especially pleased with the news of Vesilda’s “wrongdoing”.
“You defy my judgement?”
Bodhi can’t believe she used to worship such a being.
“Since you seem to forget your place, and your god, maybe you should be reminded of the power I hold.”
She remembers the glint in Astaroth’s eyes, the way her voice seemed to reverberate in her mind and court. She remembers the feeling of the wisps of night wrapping around her.
She couldn’t hear, couldn’t see, couldn’t breathe. And through it all, Astaroth’s melodic cackling in her mind, an eternal cage in which she was forever tormented.
But Bodhi also remembers her salvation, a voice of amber and gracefulness, of gentle hands and kind words. A dragon she swore to protect, one she admires beyond what words can describe.
