Leon thinks of himself as a contradiction. He is a scavenger. He collects things he can sell or trade. A very organized scavenger, Leon's home is neat and tidy. Everything he finds, he cleans and puts on a shelf after being cataloged. Some of his clanmates ask him why he cleans them when he's just going to sell it. He tells that that, along with being more appealing that way, it is just nicer to trade clean items, even if the item you're trading for isn't as clean. He hangs out with other scavengers, who are the best to trade with, though he does put up a stall outside the Trading Post when they're in the area (not inside, as the fee for being with all of the fancy traders is way too high). What he's sure those other scavengers don't know, however, is that he is a poet. |

He writes in a variety of styles of poetry, though he truly enjoys haiku the best. He hangs out at odd little gathering spots to share poetry with others. Sometimes, he gets so into his reading that he forgets anyone else is there. When this happens, his poetry friends gently guide him back to his seat and put a nice cup of coffee in front of him and continue with their readings. He eventually starts moving again, sipping the coffee slowly. Curiously, he remembers all the poetry that is read when he's stock still like that. One day, Leon would like to introduce his scavenger friends to his poetry friends. He only hesitates because he wonders if the two groups are similar enough to get along. |

One Eventful Day Leon has just arrived at the spot he and his poetry friends agreed to last week. The area is heavily shaded and quiet. Someone has already arrived with a coffee and tea cart. They've also set up a bunch of folding tables and chairs. The long, narrow dragon plops his knapsack on one of the tables and goes to order an iced mocha. When he returns, Leon is surprised to see Danni, one of his poetry friends, going through his bag. He makes a strangled squeaky sound. Danni turns to him and waves with a large spring in her claws. Leon is momentarily speechless, trying to come up with a plausible explanation for the spring. Danni sees his discomfort and giggles a little. "I'm sorry," she says. "I heard the metal sounds when you put your bag on the table and my curiosity got the better of me. You have some interesting things in here!" Again, Leon tries to speak, but nothing comes out. Danni continues, "I didn't know you were a scavenger or we could have shared stories about the hunt!" |

This time, Leon's face screws up into a bunch of wrinkles as he tries to grasp what she said. "You're--. Danni, are you a scavenger?" Danni giggles again and says, "I dabble, but it's really my girlfriend who's the scavenger. Her name is Stania." Leon almost dropped his coffee. "Stan? You know Stan? How come I've never heard about this before?" His friend puts on a crooked smile and says, "How come you never told me you are a scavenger?" They both laugh and then tell each other "Stan stories". Later, after the poetry reading, Leon invites a bunch of his poetry friends over to the scavenger meeting, which turns into a riotous impromptu poetry jam, with both groups inventing new lines - to hilarious effect. In the end, Leon learned he shouldn't assume some dragons wouldn't be interested in others because of their interests. The scavengers had more fun than they'd had since the last big scavenger's convention and some of the poets went home with new-to-you items and a whole lot of inspiration. |
