Biography
No-one's sure why the Yelon picked dragon-shape (or at least an approximation of it), but it's made communication at least slightly easier. Found in the basement as a roiling mass of burning energy after the boiler exploded, it turned out to be relatively easily appeased with gifts of combustibles and has stayed there every since.
It wasn't until Kaltoth discovered the vein of natural gas venting gently into a natural cavern below the hotel that things really started coming together. A lot of pipework later and the Yelon can generally be found as a happy half-formed puddle in its gas bath, heating the water used throughout the hotel.
Occasionally it gets bored, but this manifests as strange curls and handlike tendrils filtering through pipework and rocks to investigate whatever it finds. Fortunately these tend to be significantly cooler than the main body of the being, and rarely set fire to the objects and furnishings they touch. It can be unnerving to look round and see ghostly paws poking your glass of water, but many of the long-term residents are either used to or even fond of the manifestations. They tend to be shy - a flick or 'shoo!' will generally send them shrinking back into the wall, and doing enough will make them permanently avoid your room. Alternatively, they'll investigate anything they're handed with care, and a number of hatchlings have even managed very slow games of catch.
