Biography

In Progress

Once a simple, mortal Tundra dragon, Charcoal lived quietly in the Ashfall Waste. He grew up amidst a lively village at the base of the Magmablood Rebuke. He was a soft-spoken and withdrawn hatchling. When he came of age, he moved to the outskirts of the village. He welcomed travelers and tended to injured forgemasters, thriving in the slow life he built for himself.
(What's the lava version of cottagecore?)

At times, he would meet traveling soldiers and heroes. Among them was a strange and fiery tundra dragoness with whom he developed an unshakable admiration. Charcoal was a gentle soul, ill-suited to battle. Still, he admired the heroes and fighters he encountered, as well as the skill and tenacity of the forgemasters.

When the rebel blacksmiths took over the Magmablood Rebuke, Charcoal's work as a haphazard medic took over his life. Around him his lifelong neighbors and peers were felled one-by-one as the conflict raged on. Charcoal wrote countless pleas to his heroic friend to come to their aid, to no avail. He continued to write until he was the last villager remaining. Eventually Charcoal, too, was killed by the very dragons he'd sacrificed so much to heal.

But that was not the end.

From the depth of the volcano formed a collection of lava, fire, and charred rubble. This new form captured the spirit of Charcoal. As his new body solidified, he crashed down the mountain, tearing apart any fighters in his path. The conflict came to an end as he reached the base of the volcano and stumbled towards the ocean. He threw himself in, and from the waves came a mostly mortal Tundra dragon.

Called the "Calamity" during his trip down the volcano, he came to call himself Charlamitus.

Many years later, Charlamitus is a powerful warrior who lives within the volcano, reigning over the fire demons and familiars within.

And when that old friend, the famed hero, finally came to the island, well. That is a story for another dragon.
