Shariq

Shariq was a playful, rather goofy hatchling, constantly getting his nose and paws into things to figure out how they worked. He was inherently good natured and had an honest desire to improve things for the rest of his clan.

And then he grew up, and realized that Leila, beautiful and haughty and every inch a proper Imperial, was his intended mate, and he became completely infatuated. As hatchlings, they hadn't interacted much, but as young adults he did his best to become what he thought she would desire in a mate. He wants only to impress her and please her, but all of his efforts- bringing her gifts, setting aside his more childish interests in engineering and science- have amounted to nothing. Leila is frostily polite to him, but never kind. He considers it a personal failing that their first clutch resulted in only a single egg, believing that if he were a better Imperial, Leila would return his affections.

He noticed the growing bond between Leila and Zayn, and though he tries not to feel jealousy, he couldn't help but be despondent over the fact that he had never been able to make his mate smile in all their time together as much as this newcomer to the clan had in just a few short weeks.

Over time, however, Shariq has grown and matured and recognized his feelings for youthful infatuation. He and Leila tend to avoid one another now, but he has a cordial relationship with Zayn. And while he will never be the rambunctious troublemaker he was as child, he is once again enthusiastically pursuing his engineering endeavors and is a credit to the clan in every way.
