Zotl The Talented Translator Translator | Diplomat | Archaeologist Zotl has come from distant depths and ancient lands to this little clan deep in the desert. He never says exactly why he did, but as a dragon born in water, ripples of his oracular heritage still remain; it may be that he saw he was destined to come to this place all along. Because of his experiences, he has learned many languages, ancient and modern. He can speak his ancestral Coatl language, the common draconic, and surprisingly can decipher the Fae's bizarre monotonous words. Because of these skills, Zotl has become the clan's interpreter and translater. The mask he uses amplifies sound, creating a hollow space that imitates the curved ears of other dragons that coatls lack. Though it isn't a perfect hearing aid, it aids greatly in his translation efforts. The feathers on either side of the mask can be controlled by a claw handle to assist with Fae communication. If ever there are communication difficulties, Zotl can remedy them. However, he also enjoys archelogy, and is often fascinated by the ancient artifacts that come into the clan's possession. He has learned many of the ancient, extinct languages found on these artifacts, and can translate them. In his daily life, he has an unusual quirk - he mimics the voices of other dragons, though a distinct accent is always present. This doesn't happen in a mocking manner, it occurs more subconsciously as Zotl usually isn't even aware he's doing it. Who he mimics changes from day to day; his tone and pitch of voice, as well as any speech impediments and rate of speech are copied. Due to this, nobody is really sure exactly what his sounds like, not even Zotl. Despite this quirk, he's generally sociable, respectful and incredibly diplomatic to all that he meets, no matter who he's mimicking at the time. Though he may bother you and rant about whatever artifact he's recently come across. His efforts have contributed greatly to the clan's archives and he much enjoys accompanying the Sand Sharks on excursions. Some lairs have fascinating finds. |
