Coloration: 1/20, 1/2 unexalted imperial Nicknames: Mudpuppy, Mudpuppins, Mud, Uncle / Aunt / Grandpappy / Grand Mud It's unclear whether Mud can see, hear, or speak. One moment they might appear to follow leaves or small animals, only to go completely unfazed by obvious stimuli the next. On rare occasions they seem drawn to the presence of certain hatchlings, even insofar as to have protected them in dire circumstances, but have then gone on to ignore serious trouble just as easily. Newcomers sometimes find Mud unsettling but the rest of the clan is at peace with Mud's place among them. Them? Oh yeah that's just uncle Mud they like to do...things? Also this one time they tipped us off to that sneak attack; that was cool. But yeah they've been here for ages, even before Ochtan reclaimed this place! Their exact origins are unclear but what little intelligence the clan's been able collect seems to point to a secretive multi-element collaboration to breed...or perhaps design something powerful. Organic? Inorganic? It's hard to really tell. Their physical form seems earthly and tangible enough but any prolonged eye contact can prove a well...distressing experience for the unprepared. Mud's eyes are...deep--and not in some metaphorical sense--to lock eyes with them is to be dragged into an unknowable vastness that fractures and distorts the tangible world, beginning with Mud's shell of a form, popping, and splintering outwards with each missed blink until the viewer's own form is so alien they can't find their own gaze to break it. Luckily Mud either doesn't know or couldn't care less what they were designed for. Rather they seem content to follow sea breezes, birds, bugs, plant seeds...stand with their head in the mud for three days...stare unblikingly at the stars while pacing unfamiliar runes into the earth...Haha everything's probably fine? // A team of dragons defecting from their respective gods worked alongside the beast clans in an attempt to harness the shade. However, meddling with an entity on such an unfathomably different plane of existence...well, havoc was easily wrought. And while none of Mud's original "creators" may be the same enough to know it, their struggle and passions weren't all for naught. Where the shade is most easily classified a hivemind and Mud remains connected to it, Mud is their own entity (which was at least part of the plan). // The Shade is an entity from a higher dimension. // Mud is sentient and self aware but sometimes struggles to differentiate the two planes of existence they inhabit. It takes deep concentration for them to focus on differentiating and interacting with only one at a time. // Somewhat unbeknownst to most of the clan Mud routinely wards them from the shade's view. // |
