Biography
Quote:
I don't need your sympathy. Sympathy doesn't mean much--anyone can say I'm sorry, my condolences, and so on. What I need is your willingness to take action, to support the clan; and, above all else, to just leave me alone.
If you want to find Astrume, search quiet, isolated pastures or riverbanks. Astrume is pessimistic, philosophical, and irritable, so much so that many dragons have given up on trying to befriend her. Furthermore, she highly prefers the nighttime hours, and is rarely seen in broad daylight. The night calls to her in a way she can't quite describe, and no matter how hard she tries, she can't seem to stay away. She loves the crisp air, the faraway twinkling of the stars, the wondrous moon, and how common-day things are coated with a layer of mystery. She is often found taking nighttime flights, always by herself. Once she has finished her nightly flight, dragons can see her sitting on the ground, her opal jewelry glinting in the bright moonlight, staring up at the stars and deep in thought. They know better than approach her, as she is easily startled and occasionally lashes out. She doesn't apologize; instead, she usually glares and growls a stinging remark, offending newer members of the clan. Most dragons skirt around her to avoid her, but that's perfectly fine with Astrume. Her clanmates often wonder how she has such a poetic understanding of the universe, and how she has surprisingly good answers to most problems when she loathes socializing, and is rather stingy. Astrume's scorn manifested from a tragedy in her past, but she will never admit this--especially not to the dragons of the clan, whom she views with nothing but regal indifference. She only stays with the clan for the protection it offers her, as she is physically weak due to her small, lithe frame. In return, she hunts for the clan and brings back interesting or useful items: a magic tome with yellowed pages, urns, torn apparel. Her calculating, almost clinical coldness has won her several bartering rounds, so Alaira sends her, the clan's ace, to marketplaces during money shortages.
