The faint, flickering light of a lantern casts an eerie glow over festering mounds. Day in and day out, Telliox remain vigilant and devoted to their sacred duties. One of their heads scans the horizon for any sign of life amid the barren shoreline while the other fawns over each scar in the earth where another corpse rests. Neither sister need speak, their thoughts intertwined. They have long made their home here in the valleys between the rotting beach of the Scarred Wasteland and the distant, glimmering cliffs of the Starfall Isles. The Gravekeepers, they've been dubbed by the newcomers who arrived here mid-spring.

When the clan formerly known as Shade's Bane first arrived in the wastelands, their inevitable fate was sealed. While offering what little help they could, Telliox watched on night after agonizing night as they succumbed to the contagion. The sight would leave festering scars on the rest of the clan both mentally and physically. Still, Telliox continue their duties. What may be a horrifying ordeal to the newcomers is nothing to new to either of them.

The husk and its sister were the first to go. The beloved seer's eyes blistered and ran dark with shadowy pus. The husk withered to bones. They perished as they had come into the world: by each others' side. Wrought with grief, their mother followed with their father not far behind. One by one, the warriors fell. Ancient titans caved, casting themselves into the cauldron with their eyes and hearts set on the hope of survival. None reemerged.

Death was only the first step of their wretched transformation. When their animated carcasses refused to remain still, flesh and blood were turned inward on one another. While clinging to their righteous ideals was admirable, Telliox knew that it wouldn't be enough to save them. The wastes don't care what god you pray to, only whether or not you're strong enough to survive.
