Gluttonous and decadent, the Autumn Court fae gorge themselves on the harvest's riches. Be warned, though: one taste of their food, and you will never be able to leave. The Autumn Court is most well known for granting questing dragons prosperity, but only if they can be convinced to part with it. Aelfdane was born to the autumn fae Aoibbell and her undead consort, the Black Knight. Even among the fae, Aoibbell's children are more haunted and peculiar, often clinging to the edges of the court and only making appearances during their familial hunts. It is said that they span the realms of life and death: their skeletal forms always hunger for what they cannot taste, and they are tied to the Autumn Court through their father's promised soul, no matter how far they might wander.

Aelfdane is the oldest of the three brothers and the wild child of them all. He grew up quickly and became enamored with mortals like his mother. Known in their stories as a trickster, Aelfdane steps through bodies as easily as a man does clothes. Those who know his true name can summon him on the wind — though he barters cruelly, often asking for a simple item that can be misconstrued and allow him to take more than his fair share. He is the pride of his mother but the bane of his father; he reminds Dulainn too much of the Autumn Court's ravenous nature, and all the knight has lost.
