Atameri is rejected by her parents soon after she hatches. Cast out into the wilderness, she learns over time to fend for herself and to trust no one. As such, she's shocked when Cydonia takes the time to talk to her, not just in passing politeness but in genuine concern. Unsure whether she can trust him, she follows him to the Polareis lair ready to flee at any moment.

But strangely, the other shoe doesn't drop. She is fed and cared for, even spoiled, and never does Cydonia ask for anything in return. In the end, it's only natural that she falls for him.
