an awful poet

Hyde, to put it very bluntly, is a terrible poet. His prose was akin to that of a hatchling's going through a "phase" and his works commonly contain as much depth as an almost dry puddle would. Hyde is so confident in his "masterpieces" in fact, he's even paranoid of other dragons stealing his works, wearing an iron breastplate under his bodice just in case any try to harm him. And while he might have not been gifted as a writer, his voice is a different matter entirely. His voice, to also put it very bluntly, sounds like a choir of angels at the gates of whatever dragon afterlife is there. The contrast between his surprisingly expressive voice accompanied with lyrics that somehow seem like they were written before a first draft is jarring, yet others have learned to tune out his words and listen in for his melodies. Taverns and parties choosing to hire him for his vocal talents and not his poetry is still something he hasn't realized.

Sometimes Solis and Hyde perform together, taking turns at the stage with their respective acts. Hyde respects the Obelisk, seeing Solis as the only dragon who even comes close to his alleged talent with poetry.

As one of the richer dragons in Roost's Edge, Pervinca pays quite the hefty price to have Hyde perform private shows for her or to write her pieces of poetry. She's the only one who genuinely loves both Hyde's voice and writing.
