Kaya

Yutsuma Kaya is the heroine of the ROAD59 franchise, who becomes affiliated with the Shinonome-gumi after the first stage play.

Profile
A young girl with a serious and reserved personality who is the daughter of the Shinonome's kumichō. Kaya possesses the ability to act as a "key" that can break the seal on the Yamata no Orochi no Kubi which would give Jingi power strong enough to change the power structure over the Tenkai Ward. She has lived her whole life alone without knowing about the existence of her father, but when she becomes pursued by the other Jingi organizations, she is rescued by the Shinonome-gumi and starts living with them. Due to having this solitary lifestyle for so long, Kaya deviates somewhat from the modern image of an average high school girl.

Personality
Having qualities similar to a Yamato Nadeshiko, Kaya is a modest, polite and strong-willed girl that is quite mature for a high school student. She is notably virtuous, not hesitating to argue against anything that she finds morally wrong. Though she may seem helpless, Kaya is always determined to fight alongside others and wiling to take risks, even if it'd put herself in unwelcome danger.

Abilities
Kaya mentions in the first stage play that she practices kendo, so she is capable to hold her own in a fight. Even when a group of yakuza lackeys gang up on her, Kaya can somehow find a way to escape from them. But there are times when her enemy opposition can be too overwhelming for her to resist. Kaya's Jingi is unexplained, but it releases a transcending force that is powerful enough to make the members of the Kurojou and Hakurou retreat. Her Jingi was also capable of resuscitating Bakuto from death.

Etymology
Yutsuma (結津万) can be split into two parts; "Yuu" (結) means to "conclude" or "tie". "Tsu" (津) means a port, or haven. "Man" is interpreted as 10,000 or a "myriad".
Kaya (華夜) can be split into two parts; "Ka" (華) can mean "flower", "beauty" or "brilliance" and "Ya" (夜) directly translates to "night".

Trivia
Her theme song is "Kagi".
Kaya is fond of sweets such as basque cheesecake and macarons. She also seems to be interested in tapioca.
She likes cute things such as stuffed dolls.
In the first stage play, Suzuka briefly lent Kaya her stuffed doll, which she considered cute.
In the second stage play, it is indicated that Kaya is 17 years old after Kiyonobu mentions that the last time the cherry blossoms bloomed in the Tenkai Ward was 17 years ago, the day Kaya was born.
