Gavinia never knew her parents. The young obelisk was separated from them as soon as she hatched to be raised in a nursery, and as soon as she could cast magic, the clan's leaders recognized her power and cast her away to be trained by another clan in the arcane flight's land to one day serve the Arcanist. While it was never the life Gavinia wanted, she was afraid of defying the dragons of the clan. Many of them were warriors themselves, and the odds of her winning a fight against them was unlikely. For years, she endured the training until she got a chance one night. A few guards were absent from their posts, and Gavinia took that as her chance to flee. She left the arcane flight behind her, terrified that the clan would send scouts in their lands to find her.
Far from home, Gavinia found herself lost and alone in unfamiliar lands. She had never been outside of her birth clan and the training camp, let alone the Arcanist's lands. While strong enough to defend herself from most threats, she understood she needed help and went in search of a new clan. In the process, she found Runa. She could tell the moment she met her that the obelisk had not a sprinkle of magical abilities in her body, but she was someone, and that was enough.
