Fae were small enough dragons on their own, without any extenuating circumstances. Not the smallest of dragon species, that was a position that was most likely taken by Veilspun, but certainly close. Normal fae were small, but there was a certain type of fae that could be even smaller. Jewelry box fae only came from jewelry coming to life, and were smaller than your average fae. Lacking any of the innate knowledge of body language, jewelry box fae often adopt the body language of the first dragon they see. This is usually whatever dragon whose jewelry had just come to life. It wasn't every day that jewelry came to life, but it worked out in the end for everyone. Usually.

The Lady had many faults, this is a fact that no one has ever denied. She had gifted her various lovers numerous pieces of finery over the years, most of them either lost to time or purposefully hidden away from view. It was with her previous wife- a cunning Spiral named Viola- that she gifted a beautiful ring inset with a large sapphire. It was not their wedding band nor engagement or any other large anniversary or occasion. It was merely an expensive ring gifted solely to show off that she could: something that the Lady did often. After Viola fell ill, and after everything that had happened with her transpired, the ring was left in a jewelry box. Though there were other jewels and pieces inside the box, it was only the ring that spawned a true jewelry box fae. So imagine the Lady's surprise when she opened the box to find a small fae sitting curled up on top of a pile of coins.

Nawarat was no longer a simple ring that could sit upon a finger, but he was still a sort of decoration. The Lady had many jewels on her, many rings from many wives, and Nawarat was another piece that she wore. A small fae that would sit curled on her paw or around her neck, listening to her stories and keeping an eye on whoever she was talking with. An easy job that came with a charmed life; Nawarat never needed for anything and was able to snatch small bugs out of the air before they could ever bother the Lady. While he technically was not born, he came to see the Lady as a bit of a maternal figure in his life. Never straying far from her side and always wrapping around her to stay close.
