Biography

Role: Broodmother

Charge: Hatchlings

Sallow can recall several times in her life when she had a true home. With stable roots sunk into the soil, she drank up happiness and safety, and blessed the world with many children in return. Family is everything to Sallow--she worships the way of the seeds scattering in the wind--and yet she has left them all behind.

Several times, the wind has called to her and she has bid her homes farewell. She knows that this most recent summons will be the last.

It is time.

She didn't tell her family where she was going, but they knew that they would never see her again. They'd always known the time would come when she would set off to find a place to rest her bones-- they just hadn't expected it to be in the fetid land of Plague.

But she doesn't hold the same sort of judgements that many of her progeny do. They are still young. They do not yet see the wisdom that lies in every path--the creatures of Plague honor the circle of life and death, and there is just as much truth in their ways as all the others. So, she harbors no judgement for the ugly land she now finds herself in.

She has shed her previous name and will settle here until the last of her days, and she will raise more children. She will also nurture the oft-neglected broods of Plague mothers, and she will take joy in it. She and Scapula are both mothers who delight in seeing their offspring drift away in the wind to take place in the back-and-forth dance of life, but they differ in one very important view. While Scapula believes that the young will soar or wither based on their own merits and the mother shall continue to produce further chances for her bloodline, Sallow believes that is the mother's duty to give all of herself so that her children may flourish. Until she has nothing left, Sallow will give and give, finally fading away while her family drifts away strong with her memory.
