Emerald was found as a hatchling along with Starshine, they had been abandoned and looking for shelter, when they wandered into the Shadows Lair. Loki had found them rummaging through the food pile, at first he growled at them and was about to attack them for being thieves but Gemstone stopped him before he could do any harm and she explained he needed to expand the clan if they are to become a higher known clan. Loki hesitated to agree to let them stay but later he did, Gemstone taught them the rules of the Shadow Clan and introduced everyone to them later. They had been with them ever since and Emerald was chosen to be an Assassin.
