"You seem to like mint and chocolate,” she casually remarked, trying to break the silence as she neatly wrapped each book with wrapping paper. She swore she could see the Fae’s eyes brighten the second the words left her mouth.
Ande was ecstatic to have found a new conversation partner. Perhaps he could instill in her the same love for mint and chocolate! His frills twitched excitedly. “Well of course,” he managed in the most expressive monotone he had. “Mint and chocolate are the best things to ever have existed on Sornieth.” Hopefully the pretty shopkeeper would understand his enthusiasm!
Mocha had been in the business long enough to differentiate between different dragon breeds’ methods of expression, and boy was this Fae passionate. “Alright, tell me about it. Today’s a slow day anyway, and this book I was reading isn’t the most interesting.” The fragile Fae seemed so excited she worried he would burst.
Don’t mess this up, Ande! This is your chance! Show her what’s so good about mint and chocolate! Suddenly, he was slightly nervous. Adjusting his hat with one claw, he held out a hand, hoping to seem polite. You always had to introduce yourself before engaging in deep conversation, after all!
“I’m Ande. Nice to meet you.”
"Mocha here. Thanks for stopping by.” The Spiral was frankly quite amused by the Fae. This was the quirkiest customer she’d met in probably forever. His enthusiasm was infectious, and as she listened to the Fae talk animatedly about his favourite foods, she found herself drawn to this new character in her shop.
"What do you think? Amazing, huh?” Ande beamed at her. Please, you have gotta agree! The Spiral smiled, nodding slowly. Oh. Oh, oh, oh! She’s agreeing! Yes! He had to capitalize on this opportunity. “I can take you to my garden, if you want. I grow mints there, the smell is so good that it can make you forget all your worries.” he blurted. When Mocha nodded again, asking when would be a good date, he internally cheered.
Yes! Here’s to a new mint chocolate buddy! Way to go, Ande!

Too engrossed in her book to notice the tinkle of the door chime, Mocha had quite the fright when she suddenly heard a voice ring from the other side of the counter. “... hey, hey. Hey.” The Spiral nearly dropped her book in alarm. It was then that she noticed the small dragon fluttering in front of her, struggling to heft a stack of books onto the wooden counter.
“Some help here, please.” he chirped, and Mocha scrambled into action. Soon, the books were spread out neatly, ready to be packaged. How to Make Chocolate… Catalogue of Mint Breeds… A History of Mint Chocolate… She scrunched her snout up in puzzlement. This Fae seemed to have a… strange obsession with mint and chocolate. I don’t remember ever ordering these books. Maybe someone donated them without my knowledge? I’ll have to ask one of the part-timers later.
