It’s all fun and games, poking snakes;
But you will not leave unbitten.

By all accounts Cirrocumulus is not very friendly. The coatl’s demeanor is as frigid as his feathers, with an icy tongue to match. Popular belief about pale coatls being weak and sickly makes him rather angry; his bleached plumage is a result of his Icefield heritage, not illness or bad luck.
❀ ❁ ❀
A light-hued coatl sprawled in a patch of shade, wings tucked close to his body. His neutral expression curled into slight distaste as a lanky, definitely too clumsy spiral crashed into the serenity around him, yelling something unintelligible back up at the sky. Other half-grown dragons tumbled down to earth after the spiral, raucous and overconfident in their “amazing” flying skills. Cirrocumulus snorted. Flying masters indeed. They could barely tell up from down. One of the larger dragons (he honestly couldn’t tell if that was a gaoler or just a tundra with a really bad haircut) playfully shoved the first spiral, eliciting a chorus of whoops from the gathering when the spiral shot back towards the fluffy dragon at mach speed. Ah, how glad he was they hadn’t noticed him.

Twisting around the pale coatl nestled his head among his feathers. And promptly regretted it when one of the tussling dragons was sent flying into him. Matching snarls from both dragons stopped the others in the open dead in their tracks, the rest dumbfounded. Cirro angrily shoved the tundra-gaoler-thing away, feathers puffing out until he looked like a very large, very murderous cloud. Stomping forward out into the sunlight he glared balefully at the surrounding dragons, who were now staring at him like hatchlings who had just discovered a bizarre insect.

“Pale coatl.” The spiral said, not moving their gaze away for a second. Silence. Cirrocumulus narrowed his eyes until you could barely tell he had any.

“And what about it?” His voice was unpleasant to hear, hissing like steam. Now the younger dragons wavered for a second- probably didn’t think he talked, but today was their lucky day.

The spiral took a step forward, orange eyes oddly bright. “Dull colors. Weak.” They blew a small cloud of smoke into Cirro’s face, snickering when he shook his head slightly to clear the smog away. “Other coatls chased the ugly duckling away from the Wastes, huh?” Behind him amongst the other dragons the tundra-gaoler looked uneasy, opening and closing their mouth as if about to say something. But Cirro spoke first, and his tone sent shivers down their spines.

“Oh no, I’ve never been there.” Coldly came his response, lifting his head to stare down at the spiral. “That’s not where I’m from at all, and honestly? You were too quick with the pale is weak judgement.” His eyes glittered from beneath furrowed brows, dull form shimmering faintly. “The smoke isn’t impressive, by the way.” The slight shine to his feathers grew more prominent, creeping across their surface- frost. “You should really wait until you’re old enough to do something like this.”

Cirro opened his jaws wide and winter poured forth.
