Biography

Saffron
the seer, the enchanter, the guide
Ghostly Aura
Firestarter
Ornate Gold Bracelet

Saffron was born with one claw in the world of spirits. When she was little, they scared her, and she sought her mother's embrace.

As she grew older, she slowly warmed to the spirits. Sometimes she would chat with them, sitting in the corner of the lair and chatting with long-dead ancestors. Saffron sat alone often. If she wanted company, she chatted with her parents, and if not, she chatted with the dead. It wasn't that she dislikes the living; she just likes the dead equally and the spirits around her happened to befriend her before her clanmates did.

This habit, or talent, of hers led to strain between her and her clanmates. Sometimes she displayed her gift for magic and jewelry making and tried to curry their favor with gifts. The warm gold molded easily in her claws only helped every so often, and the warmth of her magic was often overlooked. Eventually, while it didn't bother her that she didn't speak to many other living dragons, slowly the strain built and built until she was forced to leave.

And so Saffron wandered from clan to clan. She's had three consorts, she's had children, and she's moved on. Sometimes, though, when she closes her eyes and has nightmares about the glaring eyes of all the dragons she's left and promises to herself that she doesn't miss, she sees those eyes. Those bright fire eyes of her second mate, the only one who didn't exalt.

And then she wandered, finding lost spirits and ancestors and guiding them to where they wanted to go. She was their lantern that guided them through the ever-changing world of the living.

Still she swears that the memory of the dragons she's known and lost doesn't bother her. Still she makes jewelry, beautiful and enchanted in her absent claws, as a nervous habit. Still her magic glows warm and caring around her.

Still she wanders.
