Arabella Sterling: a little of history:

Three

Her parents were nowhere to be found near her nest. It had been weird, because she didn’t feel incomplete at all. Her best friend is Julianna, which she called her Juli. They went to the same school since a young age, four or five, she couldn’t remember.

But she remembered on the first day of school, she hoax Juli to spread spice powder on the teachers’ handbags. “I’ll expel you!” Their teacher stumbled out, wiping angrily. She had compassion, and she felt terrible for the teacher.

“I will never be your friend again!” Juli swore in front of the entire class. Arabella tried to function both her guilt and the willingness to laugh at the teacher. At last she managed, “Can I have a piece of your cookie? They look pretty.”

Eight

Arabella’s notebook should be filled with notes and equations, but it was full of sketches and colors. One day teacher called her forward, telling her there’s color on her homework book, and Arabella nodded, acknowledge the fact that there was. Her teacher stated only neat cursive handwriting pencil the notebook, “You don’t understand the importance.”

“But, madam, I don’t see how our homework qualities improve by banning colors.”

“Organize! Understand, organize! I’ve been repeating them every day! Go, I don’t want to talk anymore!”

That’s the reason Arabella only has pencil sketches of characters. They were so lively and beautiful even her least favorite teacher asked, “Do you have extra art course outside of school?”

“No. I learn them myself.”

It was like that lady nearly had her eye balls fall out of her eye as she shoot her a look of disbelief. Juli walked out of the classroom with her, “She didn’t look happy with your answer.”

“I’m quite happy. Because I felt she’s jealous.”

Ten

At the great age of ten, Arabella learned to break the rules completely. She played fight with boys and beat them to the core. Then ran to collect autumn leaves. She never listened in class, just sketching her leaves secretly.

Her grade was average, but who cares? Sometimes, Arabella felt even the noise she made with Juli isn’t enough to fill the space in her heart.

Twelves

It was full of her life-changing events. Arabella randomly choose to change her school along with Juli, and she discovered her new classmates were so loving that they feel just like a family. She arrived, laughed as hard, drew stuff. Fun raining on her as if she’s standing waterfall.

The police found her father. Arabella was excited. As they talk it was awkward, because there were two police sitting after her father. When she admitted she’d rather be born as a sister to Juli, her father started roaring with frustration like a little kid. At least the polices didn’t sit there for nothing. Later, a calm adult talks to her for a long time. “His temper can change quickly, like the sky before rainfall.”

Of course Arabella understood. It’s disappointing how those people didn’t believe she can handle everything on her own.

The next day, Mrs. Calm came to talk to her again. “We need to give you a quick body test. No need to worry about anything.” Her smile was so comforting and wide Arabella nearly believed her if it wasn’t so fake.

Well, of course, everything went wrong. Long story short, they try to calm her with a surgery of putting a green **** in her blood. It made her weak like a kitten and crying on the floor for twelves hour and threw up.

Negative ten points to Mrs. Calm.

But that was not the most important event. It was, she fell in love. With Kyden Mirthul, the one sitting in front of her in classes.

Thirteen

Big change for the genre of Arabella’s life story! The government had just developed a technology to bring back the air quality from “an ancient time”. “We repeat this process each seven years, in order to keep our country clean as ever.”

However, it went wrong. The process start before the people from her district retreat. So Arabella felt her lungs burning as her eyes closed and the sky turned grey and blue again. When she woke up, there was she and her classmates. “I feel it’s not supposed to go that way.” Izar Pauline, the best student in their class, said.

“Indeed.” Arabella agreed.

“Let’s get out of here. Everyone, stick together!”

Some fake friendly ladies later informed them they should go to another school, but twenty-six of them refused to leave each other, so they became classmates again. The teachers forbidden them to discuss the air cleaning process, and they never can contact anyone from that place again. They gave up after years of trying, for the fear of being dragged into jail.

“Sometimes, I feel like we only have each other left.” Kyden said to them one day after school.

Everyone nodded in reply.

“Can I have some of your green tea? They made me miss the old time.” Arabella said to him after his speech to the class. (“how to keep us together”)

“Of course, I’ll do anything to erase the pain of my family.”

At least her heartbeat was not lost.

Twenty

On the last day of her twenty, something attacked her and lost her consciousness.

Thirteen (again)

“Welcome to anemias healing center! You’re close to age so we put you together.” A calm man said to them and explained how they lost their memories.

After he left the room for a while, Arabella knew something was not right. Because she didn’t have anemias, she remembered everyone’s name in this room. And she remembered her classroom seating right after Kyden. She remembered her school. It’s just she didn’t recognize the city outside of the “healing center” windows.

“We should leave. Now.” Izar commanded, and they broke the window and ran. All of them. Arabella didn’t feel the slightest of awkwardness.

Arabella watched Kyden step closer to Izar, “It’s that our thirteen to twenty years are repeated. I’ll help you, whatever you do.” He told her.

The look Izar gave him really made Arabella want to kill Izar. Kyden was, however, not hers to keep or hers to lose.

Fourteen (again)

Arabella had her birthday celebrated in their getaway car, because they didn’t want to be caught and forced to leave each other. She and the other twelve girls from their homeroom sat in the car’s truck. Juli and Izar baked her a cake. “I’m sorry, Arabel. You deserve better than this miserable chocolate cake.” Izar said like she was going to cry.

At the second, Arabella felt so sorry for her. Izar organized the whole activity of running away and always keep track of everyone, and always encouraging them even when they’re immature monsters.

“Yeah, you useless fool. Izar.”

She grew tired of Kyden these days, mostly because he nearly left Juli behind once. He didn’t help Izar, mostly just pointing out her flaws. He was proud, ignorant and stupid like a blind man who declares he can see.

“And you are like the vision of a demon at night, and less powerful, Kyden.” She shouted back.

Fifteen (again),

After two years, the police jailed them, finally. And separated. They should know, a group of youngsters couldn’t stay safe on their own. Kyden escaped by suddenly declare his loyalty to the government. Whenever Arabella thought about her crush on her, she wanted to stab herself, for liking a disgusting person. Also stab him, because he was a good temper, responsible and reasonable helper.

Sixteen (again)

“Go.”

Whoever said those words to her is a complete angel. Arabella felt the chain around her body loosen and suddenly she was surrounded by her family again. It was only Izar, because they jailed her in a different place.

“Hey.” Juli walked beside her as the strange person who gave them a signal of chance led them. “Long time no see, buddy.”

“We see each other every day, just not allowed to talk to anyone except those ‘daily trainers’ of ours. Who repeated we’re anemias again and again.”

“Whatever. But now I feel like we are a completely family after being stuck together for so long.” Juli whispered, “If Izar is here.”

“Sit.”

The figured commanded them. They saw nothing, for they were walking in the dark the whole time. Soon as they sat on a more comfortable wooden floor than jail, the light came in. Arabella couldn’t help herself, “It was our getaway car!”

Seeing each other, they laughed and relaxed and talked. “I wish Izar is here, and we’d be whole again.” Mary said. She was Izar’s closest friend.

A wave of sharp pain suddenly hit Arabella, because Izar wasn’t the one she wanted the most. She wanted Kyden, Kyden Mirthul, the one she gave out her heart. Her pain overpowered her. She stayed numbed and didn’t talk for the rest of the night.

The next day, the truck’s door was opened, and two bodies appeared. One was Izar, suffered more than any of them. Her skin was covered with bruises and scars. “Izy!” The majority gasped.

“I’m alive. And it still filled my heart with my love for you.” Izar mumbled, sat in the corner, then fell asleep immediately.

Arabella turned to see the other figure. He changed. He wasn’t soft or anything; she remembered. But as their eyes met, Arabella felt tears rolling in her eyes.

Later that day, everyone talked about future, not the past. Everyone accepted each other, and it was just like the old time.

But she stilled had to settle it with him, or else she wouldn’t be able to sleep without crying and screaming. Neither would Juli.

They drove to their old secret base. Kyden had made some improvement. It used to be a wild forest the government hasn’t applied plan to it yet. But now they had a house, just enough for twenty-six people. Everyone forgave him, and no one talk about escape these days, or they needed rest.

Sometimes she looked out of the window of her room, seeing him talking midnight walk. He matured so much that his expression was so much like Izar. Sometimes when she wandered around the house, just to fulfill her curiosity, she occasionally found him alone, deep in thought.

The day before her seventeenth birthday, he came to her room in the morning by surprise. “Arabella.”

She was calm, “Kyden.”

“Do you want to know a secret?”

“Not from your mouth.”

Sometimes disappointment made people wild and made wild people reasonable.

“I know you’re losing sleep.”

Arabella pressed her lips together, didn’t respond.

“You know, we’re really ageing now.”

“So you broke our seven-year loop and rescued us out. What’s been in your mind lately?” Arabella couldn’t hold back anymore. She stared at him as if he was the handbag that held these spice powder.

Kyden shook his head. “What do you think of me?”

“Idiot.”

He hesitated, “Alright.” Then he left her room. Arabella walked to close the door.

There was a package dropped purposely on the floor. She picked up a letter of his and her random drawing he collected since they were seventh grade.

Seventy-six (first time)

“Did you preheat the oven before putting the dough in?”

“No.”

Arabella hit Kyden’s shoulder, “These are gift!”

“Alright, madam, I’ll bake another plate of cookies.”

“And I’ll eat the imperfect cookies.”

“Whatever.” Kyden mumbled as Arabella started laughing, “I absolutely love you, Arabella Sterling.”
