Did you think we were kidding about the zombies?

These creatures are the result of Dr. Crackpot's experiments with dead bodies. Zombies are highly aggressive, and will attack anything that moves. They will violently charge towards their targets and leap at them in an attempt to knock them down and grapple them, after which they will start biting and- well, eating their unfortunate victim. There is even a chance that their victim will become a zombie themselves after death- if enough of them is left, that is. Their bites are infectuous, with about a 50/50 chance that you will turn into a zombie yourself, if you do manage to get away after getting bitten. There have also been zombies spotted that can spit acid- a mutation caused when a zombie marinates in a slurry of its slain brethren for a good, long time. How this happens is unknown.

These creatures overwhelmed the now-abandoned part of the residential sector a few years ago, after escaping Dr. Crackpot's containement- though evidence has come to light that they may have been set free. By who, nobody knows, but what they do know, is that it caused a massive catastrophe. The Nexus Core was eventually able to contain the outbreak, and quarantine the parts of the residential sector where the zombies reside, but it still cost a lot of people their lives. Despite this outbreak, thought, the citizens of Nexus City still have a lot of faith in their beloved Phobos.

While a lot of zombies still roam the residential sector, most of them have moved towards the sewer system- which, in turn, connects to the abandoned mining sector. Surprisingly, the zombies that moved there aren't aggressive towards the Abominations that were dumped there, and vice-versa.

Not that anyone would know that, of course.
