In the cavern rested the beast. In slow, drawn out huffs, she lay sleeping in winding curls over lush, silken pillows. Twice a day, she was to be awoken and lead out and ceremoniously given her offering of food, which she gratefully eats under the eyes of hundreds of Talonok. She has been here for generations, her original purpose nearly forgotten, yet they cared for her all the same. Whether it be out of fear, tradition, or true compassion, they did not abandon her. And for that, she was grateful.
