Background:
It feels like just yesterday, we were renovating this old building. Many years ago, it used to be a bar, filled with drinks, tables, and cards, of course. I remember, as if it were yesterday, walking in and sitting down at a table. A really handsome Gaoler sat down in front of me, with a deck of cards. “Wanna play a game of Rummy?” he asked. I nodded. I couldn’t talk because I was busy looking at his eyes. His dreamy green eyes seemed to draw me in-

Ahem. Right, sorry. Got a little carried away. Anyways, I was pretty sure I was gonna win. Before that day, I had never lost a game to anyone. I did end up winning, but the Gaoler, who I later learned was named Joker, had a spark in his eye as he asked me for a rematch. I accepted again, and ended up losing to him. For the rest of the day we sat at that table, playing every game we knew. I would win some, and he would win some. He was the perfect match for me, and as the games went on, so did our feelings. A few months later, we became mates, and I was so happy that I had said yes to that card game that started it all.
