Being the ruler of her kingdom was no easy task. Mundane work piled around her as she banged her head against the polished, wooden desk. Hurried steps rushed into her room.

“Are you okay, ma’am?”

Her friend, and bodyguard, answered.

“Amos, I’m fine. Also, I told you just to call me Hyacinth. We’re friends, aren’t we?”

Amos sighed. They had done this whole ordeal dozens of times.

“Fine, fine. Hyacinth.”

Hyacinth chuckled.

“See? Not so hard, was it?”

Amos appeared visibly annoyed at the comment, which only caused more laughter from the ruler.

“Anyways, what happened? Did another stack fall?”

Amos looked around the room, yet only saw the usual clutter of Hyacinth’s office.

“I just banged my head against the desk, nothing major. All this work is so stressful… I feel like someone else should’ve just taken my role.”

Hyacinth sighed, standing up and nodding to Amos.

“Let’s go. I feel like relaxing today.”

Amos followed her, almost running to catch up to her. She was fast for such a tiny butterfly.

“What about all your work? You can’t just leave it again,” Amos tried to reason to her.

“I’ll have someone else from the Council do it for me. Abyss owes me one, anyways.”

Amos fell quiet, knowing there was no way to bargain with Hyacinth after she had already made up her mind.

“Now, where should we go? Hm… oh! I still haven’t showed you the beach yet, have I? Let’s go!”
