You hail from a place of dark magiyk, of cruel mischief, of the forest's dark shadows reaching to swallow you whole. Your heritage is fae and your blood carries the legacy of the last unseelie royal blood; both a blessing and a curse. With you the forgotten court wars on.

WOLFSBANE CROWNED ; the lost r o y a l

W O L F S B A N E >> you

Deep under the bubbling cauldron of the Wyrmwound, in the centre of a dark labyrinth lies a crumbling ruin of a once ethereal Fae court, now cloaked in darkness. The once verdant fauna now lies dead and decaying against the cold stone floor. In the centre, with broken columns scattered around is a large Dias. Three large thrones are placed in the center, each a faded black from age. As you approach, you hear an chorus of ethereal laughter coming from all around you. Your heart stops in your chest, as you hear three voices in unison quietly whisper.

”Welcome to our lost Unseelie court… please stay with us… forever.”

ARBORVITAE
THE MAD PRINCE

Chased from their home, Arborvitae and his siblings eventually came to reside in this castle buried deep in this labyrinth. When they first came to this place, the castle was quiet and regal. Stretching out like an imposing figure in the distance. Many of the Unseelie Court who had assisted them in their escape has since perished, leaving only a very select few along side the siblings. Arborvitae still couldn’t recall why they had to leave, but his young mind still recalled a few things. A scent of smoke and decay, as well as an uneasy fear that never left his mind.

Over the years, Arborvitae and his siblings made these cold and lonely castle their home. The sadness that he knew when he was only a child, continued to grow over the years as their subjects, trusted allies and lifelong friends began succumbing to illness and the new harsh environment they were no longer accustomed to. Eventually all that remained where the siblings. They slowly grew together and were absolutely inseparable. Arborvitae personality grew stoic and headstrong, constantly trying to keep Aspen and Basswood from trying ridiculous stunts.

Eventually as they grew older, Arborvitae began to see a change in his brother Basswood. The solitude of the labyrinth coupled with the loss of so many slowly began wearing on the young Unseelie royals. Their minds began to fracture. Paranoia began to set in as they days continued, Arborvitae began to fear the violence that followed them from their homeland would follow them here. Soon his fears and terrors would become his new reality.

The screams of his sister Aspen reverberated through the cavernous hold where they resided late that night, as Arborvitae slept. He awoke with a start, and rushed to his sister. She was inconsolable, screaming over Basswood, his lifeless body lying limp in front of them. Their screams turned into a chorus as they both mourned over their lost brother.

Past the wails of his sister, Arborvitae heard two eerie voices whisper in unison nto his ear.

”We can return your brother to you.”

Arborvitae whipped around, trying to search for the voice but found nothing. Arborvitae’s voice shook as he begged for his brother to be retired to him. With his heart broken in two, he proclaimed that he would do anything for his brother to be returned to them.

Twin veilspuns emerged, dark as night with streaming black smoke coming from their bodies and they cackled with glee. They approached Arborvitae and with a smile they began to lay out their bargain. They would return their brother to them, alive and well. But the one thing it would cost them, would be their sanity and their souls. Arborvitae recoiled at first, then as he set his eyes on his brother; he agreed with he terms. He shook her outstretched claw and sealed the pact.

The veilspuns smiled crudely and approached the body of Basswood. As they placed their outstretched claws upon him, thorns began to erupt from the earth glowing a bright vivid red as smoke began to swirl all around them. After what seemed like a mere few seconds, they lifted themselves away from his brother and melted back into the shadows. All that Arborvitae saw as they disappeared was two sets of cold red eyes and the cold cruel smile across their faces.

In only a matter of days, the true weight of the bargain with the mysterious veilspuns truly began apparent to them all. The very next day, Basswood began to come back to life, slowly moving around and talking ever so softly. Arborvitae noticed a change in him immediately. He was no longer the same brother he grew up with. His eyes now were completely pupil-less, it appeared to anyone looking that he may have been blind. But the most noticeable part was Basswood’s sudden insatiable hunger, for anything with a heart beat.

As he watched his brother transform, his sanity began to slip just as the veilspun had said. Guilt manifested in front of him, visions of his tortured subjects, mangled and broken danced before him. Visions of dark stalking figures and voices whispering began to become a normal occurrence with him. No one could really say when Arborvitae finally snapped, but once he did they began to craft a plan.

Since the start, many young dragons had began to venture down into the labyrinth searching for the riches that it may hold. Once a dragon made it far enough, they would keep them as a part of the Unseelie court, and then they would be able to stay there forever.

Now Arborvitae roams the ruined castle, cackling to himself hearing voices that no one else can. Biding his time, until another new subject appears at the front gates ready to join the Unseelie Court. Whether by their own accord or not.
